Here the first photo of a large series of photos of the Villa Orchid Lodge. Here the main entrance of apartment 1. To understand the setup, you have to imagine that 5 houses are built against the rock (all facing north, the sunny side in the southern hemisphere) to create an incredible view of one of the greenest cities of the world. The lower house contains 2 apartments (one of 100 and one of 105 m2). The main entrance gives access to a hall that gives access to apartment 1 but also to the stairs that lead to apartments 3 and 4 on 1st floor and apartment 6 on 2nd floor.

This photo shows how the houses that make up Orchid Lodge are built against the rock like swallow nests.
.
This is the middle house of “Orchid Lodge”, house that is partly built on stilts and stands against the rock and partly on the entrance hall of apartment 1. This second house contains apartments 3 and 4.
Apartment 3 (46.5 m2) is accessible through the main entrance if you climb a staircase from the hall. Apartment 4 (42.75 m2) is accessible via a wide external staircase that runs up behind the swimming pool near the palm tree.
Apartment 3 has a sitting room and bedroom, a pantry and a bathroom with bath, toilet, sink and a shower.
Apartment 4 has a large sitting room and kitchen, plus a bathroom with bath, sink, toilet and urinal.
They converted it into a house with a large living room with a parquet floor (which is still present), a open fireplace (still present), an open kitchen with a bar, a spacious bedroom, a bathroom with toilet (kitchen and bathroom are completely renewed in 2007) and a children’s room. This apartment is 105 m2 and has a large terrace and a private terrace.
The apartment has the huge L-shaped sitting room with an open kitchen and dining room that are built around a huge terrace. The living room / dining room / open kitchen measures 76.5 m2.
Furthermore, this apartment has 3 bedrooms, a bathroom with bath and shower + toilet and 2 extra bathrooms with shower and toilet.
If a manager couple / owner lives in this 150 m2 apartment, there are still 5 or 6 apartments left to rent (5 if you maintain the resident gardener / handyman who lives in apartment 7).
View into the seating area of the L-shaped room of apartment 6, the pink door leads to a corridor where the 2 of the 3 bedrooms and the bathroom are situated. An suite to this large room is another children’s room with its own shower. From this sitting room access to two different balconies with beautiful views.

View from the large terrace of apartment 6 of “Orchid Lodge”. The view from the huge terrace of apartment 6 of “Orchid Lodge” is the most spectacular. Far on the horizon, Sandton’s skyscrapers – the modern business center of Johannesburg. Furthermore, seas of green.

Bathroom Apartment 2, “Orchid Lodge”. The second bathroom of apartment 2, which is attached to the master bedroom. The bathroom has a bath with shower, sink and toilet. All kitchens and bathrooms in all apartments have this industrial look and were installed in 2006.
Almost all 7 bathrooms and most rooms in the 2nd and 3rd house have black slate floors. Only the apartments 1 and 2 in the lower house have old oregon wooden floors.

Photograph of the industrially designed kitchen of apartment 4. Like everywhere black slate floors and industrially designed countertops and sinks. Behind the purple door is the bathroom with bathtub, industrially designed countertop, toilet and urinal.
